Town of Natick
Charter and By-Law Review Committee
13 East Central Street
Natick, MA 01760

Meeting, March 8, 2001

Present:  Linda Wollschlager, Raphael Herz, Jeffrey Phillips, Paul Connolly

Absent:  Philip Verzani

The meeting was called to order by the chair at 7:10 PM in the School Department Training Room, Third Floor, Town Hall.

Mr. Phillips reported that he had made contact with the Boston Globe West Weekly (Alison Murray), Natick Bulletin (Heather Davis), and Natick Cable (John MacGillivray) and that they planned to publicize the upcoming public input sessions. Mr. Connolly reported that he had sent messages to the Natick Tab and MetroWest Daily News, but had not yet received any response.

Mr. Herz will prepare the press information by next week to include contact information and the web site address, the committee's goals and objectives, some of the suggestions received to date, and an historical piece on reviews of the charter and by-laws in the past. Mr. Connolly will write the historical piece.

Ms. Wollschlager will make a special effort to obtain contact information for those Town officers, boards, and committees that have not responded to the committee's previous requests.

Ms. Wollschlager is going to make the list of suggestions on changes received to date available to the public on the web site before the public input session on March 22.

Ms. Wollschlager reported that the idea of a trivia quiz about items in the charter and by-laws is not feasible.

Committee members discussed procedures to be followed for the upcoming public input sessions.

Minutes of the February 22 meeting were approved as written.

The meeting adjourned at 9:10 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Paul E. Connolly
